People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, member Chris Link of Norfolk, Va., top, adjusts the cellophane covering on the costume of demonstrator Dezeray Rubinchik of Philadelphia, top right, during a protest in front of the Statehouse, in Providence, R.I., Monday, June 6, 2005. The protest, in which three people placed themselves in containers resembling supermarket meat trays, was meant to compare eating meat with cannibalism. PETA member Karolina Colwill of Sioux Falls, S.D., appears center.

To answer jayg's question: why should we treat animals with respect? well maybe because it's um....humane? I mean, torturing animals is not only cruel but sickening...
And no it's not always "a bored person with a liking for besitality porn that comes up with shit like this". Mostly it's just people who believe in the fair treatment of animals. and no offense but where did you come up with these ideas? They are so wack!

So Jayg, since you just proved your ignorance on like... everything, you really shouldn't be the one telling people to "get a life".

I was a veg for 15 years (and then started eating some meat again and dropped 15lbs), but I NEVER supported PETA. They take stray animals in and then EUTHANIZE them - they KILL HEALTHY ANIMALS. Their theory is that the animals are better off dead than pets. They are disgusting.

re jayg-

Standing up for what you believe in is the very essence of bravery. It is hardly the behavior of "wimps and pussies." Treating the animals we consume with respect is the LEAST we can do. Just because the animals are incapable of complaining does not make it right to treat the inhumanely. Especially since in reality we are ALL animals.

PETA is a worldwide organization that has accomplished more victories in the last few years than any other animal rights group! Go PETA!!!!

wow, it's incredible how far some people can actually insert their heads up their own asses. peta does not euthanise helathy animals, they euthanise animals that are too sick or injured to be adopted out. peta isn't against having pets, but they are against breeding more animals because the overpopulation problem is so huge. can that sink at all into your tiny little head?

peta euthanizes over 2/3 of the animals they "rescue".

Guh, you know I ~am~ against the whole factory slaughter thing, so let's end that. If you want meat, git out there and git it yerself. But PETA, falls short of being ethical if they can't save the poor carrots. Carrots git boiled alive, they git skinned, they git shredded, hail they git juiced. There ain't no cow out there that has been so poorly treated as a carrot. So you PETA people git off yer biggoted, kingdomist high horses and shyaddup until you are willing to fight for all living things. In the mean time, I'm gonna hunt me a small, helpless tubor, er maybe a bunny.

They are based in Norfolk, Va. were I lived. They gave my son, who was two at the time something called the "Unhappy Meal" which had a bloody Ronald Mcdonald in it. I guess he was lower than an animal, and who cares if he was scared. They really showed me, I no longer support them at all....
