Passive Smoking Ad

Thursday, December 07, 2006

Breathing other people's smoke is called passive, involuntary or second‑hand smoking. The non-smoker breathes "sidestream" smoke from the burning tip of the cigarette and "mainstream" smoke that has been inhaled and then exhaled by the smoker. The message of this ads is clear: passive smoking kills.I hate smoking and the smoke in general, and this ad shows that not only smokers are affected by their cigars, but also the people who live near them. Please STOP Smoking.

Unfortunately this is a lie. They have never proven that second smoking kills. There was one report which was later proven false, yet even after the report was proven false, all the anti-smoke groups continued to use it.

No medical study has ever proved second-hand smoke to be dangerous. Believe it or not, grilling a hamburger is more dangerous than second-hand smoke.

Now if you object to second-hand smoke on asthetic grounds, that's one thing, but don't make it a public safety issue until you have peer-reviewed scientific evidence that second-hand smoke is dangerous.

You know who funds these second-hand smoke propoganda campaigns? Pharmaceutical companies who produce nicotine gum and other stop-smoking aids.

I'm not a smoker. I just don't like being manipulated for someone else's hidden economic or political agenda.
